Here to Listen, Here to Help

Sometimes life can get difficult, for some it may feel like that more often than not. There is no shame in seeking out loved ones, friends, and professionals for support and help during those times. I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental but honest environment that promotes deeper connection with self self and others, and teach practical skills and techniques that people can use to better navigate their unique struggles. I focus on discovering a person's, family, or couple's strength and empowering their innate abilities to make healthy and meaningful change.

As an Asian American, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am aware of the stigmas and issue that often surround the use of mental health services. I take pride in maintaining a culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ friendly, and trauma informed practice where people can tell their story through traditional talk therapy as well as an eclectic mix of therapeutic styles, including EMDR, depending on your needs.

There are a variety of reasons people seek out talk-therapy support. Sometimes couples are simply looking to build a stronger foundation for their relationship. If travel is difficult, I offer services over the web!

So Here’s Me

I’m Kai, your 6’2“ transgender, Taiwanese American, therapist. I was born and raised in Southern California. The first thing people tend to notice about me is my height. My Asian American family has no clue why I’m this tall either.

I wanted to be a therapist since middle school. During these tumultuous years of growth, I found myself overwhelmed by the pressures of growing up and asking big questions about life. I remember noticing how the other kids and their parents struggled to communicate — I remember wanting to help. I turned to the study of psychology to better understand myself and to find the tools to help others.

Working in the field, I’ve had the opportunities to help families reconcile their cultural differences especially within the AAPI community.  I’ve developed a passion for working with couples, helping pairs build their relationships instead of tearing them down.

As part of the LBGTQIA+ communities, I have greatly benefited from the support of my own therapist. I know first hand how important it is to have someone who can truly empathize with our unique struggles.
